Re-opening libraries

  • Libraries will start to reopen from Mon 6 July (see new interim library opening hours)
  • The Mobile Libraries service will not resume due to the challenge of creating a safe environment in a confined space
  • The Library at Home Service has partially resumed and we will resume the full service later this summer
  • Meeting rooms, library events and activities will not resume in July and August. These services will reintroduced when it is safe to do so

Libraries re-opening dates

Week Commencing Monday 6 July

Bar Hill, Cambourne, Cambridge Central, Ely, Huntingdon, March, St Ives, St Neots, Wisbech will reopen.

Week Commencing Monday 3 August

Arbury Court, Barnwell Road, Buckden, Burwell, Chatteris, Cherry Hinton, Clay Farm, Comberton, Cottenham, Great Shelford, Linton, Littleport, Milton Road, Ramsey, Rock Road, Papworth, Sawtry, Soham, Warboys, Whittlesey, Willingham, Yaxley will reopen.

Week Commencing Monday 3 August

Sawston new library opening at its new location in Sawston Community Hub

Histon Library has closed for refurbishment, provisional offer to be confirmed in September before a new library opens in 2021.

Services

  • Online reservations will be available from 29 June online or via Customer Services 0345 045 5225
  • Customers will be able to call or contact us online to request a selection of titles based on genre or author, which we’ll make available for collection. More details to follow.
  • Return items to any open library
  • No browsing of titles in libraries
  • No CD/DVD lending
  • Talking Books free throughout July and August
  • Public Access IT facilities by appointment only. One 45 minute appointment per day per customer
  • Printing - exact cash only, card payments at Cambridge Central, Huntingdon and Wisbech libraries
  • All in-library events remain suspended
  • No room hire
  • eServices – content and activities
  • We cannot accept book donations

Loans, renewals, reservations and charges

  • All items borrowed prior to lockdown have had their due date extended until the 30 September.
  • Manage your account online
  • The loan period will be temporarily be extended from 4 to 6 weeks for items issued in July and August.
  • All existing loan charges remain frozen until 31 August. We will continue to review this date.
  • Reservation charges suspended until 31 August. We will continue to review this date.
  • Reservation collection dates for existing reservations will be extended indefinitely so they should be available when libraries reopen
